Setup
- Each player takes a mat and four discs: three roses and one skull.
How to play
- Each player places one disc face down in front of them.
- Then, in turn, add a disc to your stack or start a challenge by announcing how many discs you think you can turn over without hitting a skull.
- Once a challenge has started, no more discs are placed: in turn, each player raises the bid or passes. When all the others have passed, the highest bidder attempts the challenge.
- The challenger first turns over all the discs in their own stack, then those on top of the stacks of their choice, up to the number announced.
- Only roses: the challenge succeeds. A skull: the challenge fails immediately and the challenger loses a disc.
Scoring
- No points. Record a successful challenge each time; with the second, you win.
End of the game
- Two successful challenges win the game.
- A player who has lost all four discs is eliminated; the last player still in the game wins.
Frequently asked questions
Who chooses the lost disc?
If the skull was their own, the challenger chooses which disc they lose. Otherwise, the owner of the skull takes one at random, without showing it.
Who starts the next round?
The challenger from the previous round, whether they succeeded or failed. If they have just been eliminated by another player's skull, the owner of that skull starts; if they were eliminated by their own skull, they choose who starts.
