You’ll need the game box. Marquoir sums up the rules and keeps score.
Setup
- Each card shows two numbers, one at the top, one at the bottom.
- Deal the cards. Without rearranging them, each player may turn their whole hand upside down, once, before play begins.
- Each player receives a "Scout & Show" token.
How to play
- On your turn, choose one action.
- Show: play adjacent cards from your hand that beat the set in the middle. You then win the beaten cards, face down.
- Scout: take a card from either end of the set in the middle and insert it wherever you like in your hand, whichever way up you like. The owner of the set gains a Scout token.
- Scout & Show: once per round, using your token, Scout and then immediately Show.
- Strength: more cards beat fewer cards. With the same number of cards, a set of matching numbers beats a run of consecutive numbers, then the higher value wins.
Scoring
- +1 point per card won and per Scout token.
- −1 point per card left in hand, except for the player whose set was not beaten.
End of the game
- The round ends when a player empties their hand, or when all the other players have scouted in a row and play comes back to the owner of the set.
- Play as many rounds as there are players; the highest total wins.
Frequently asked questions
Can you rearrange your hand?
No, never. Only a card taken by scouting can be inserted wherever you like.
