Setup
- Each player receives three region cards in hand.
- Reveal a row of region cards in the middle, one more than there are players.
How to play
- The game lasts eight turns. Everyone chooses a card from their hand, then all reveal it and place it to the right of their line.
- If the number on the card played is higher than that of your previous card, draw sanctuaries and keep one.
- Then, from the lowest number played to the highest, each player takes a card from the central row.
Scoring
- At the end, turn your eight cards face down, then reveal them from the eighth back to the first.
- Each card revealed only scores with what is visible at that moment: the cards played after it, and the sanctuaries.
- Sanctuaries are scored last, with all the cards visible.
End of the game
- After the eighth turn, score. The highest total wins.
Frequently asked questions
Why score backwards?
Because a card only benefits from what you played after it: the first cards laid set up the end of the exploration.
