Setup

  • Four to seven players. One sheriff, one or two deputies, two or three outlaws, one renegade, depending on the number of players.
  • Only the sheriff reveals their role. Each player receives a character, with its ability and life points.
  • The sheriff gets one extra life point, and each player is dealt as many cards as they have life points.

How to play

  • On your turn, draw two cards, play as many as you like, then discard down to your number of life points.
  • One Bang! card per turn, unless a weapon or character says otherwise, and only against a player within range.
  • Range depends on the distance around the table, modified by weapons, the Mustang and the Scope.
  • A player at zero life points is eliminated and reveals their role.

Scoring

  • No points: the game is won by a side.
  • The sheriff and deputies win if all outlaws and the renegade are eliminated.
  • The outlaws win as soon as the sheriff dies.
  • The renegade only wins by being the last one alive, with the sheriff eliminated last.

End of the game

  • The round ends when the sheriff dies, or when only one side is left standing.
  • Enter 1 for each player on the winning side, 0 for the others.

House rules and pitfalls

  • A sheriff who kills their own deputy loses all their cards on the spot: it is the harshest penalty in the game, and the most common.
  • Eliminating an outlaw gives three cards to whoever shot them: that is what makes the hunt worthwhile.
