Qwixx

1.Setup

• Six dice: two white and four coloured. One score sheet per player.
• Each sheet has four rows: red and yellow from 2 to 12, green and blue from 12 to 2.

2.How to play

• The active player rolls all six dice. Everyone may cross off the sum of the two white dice, in the row of their choice.
• Then the active player alone may cross off the sum of one white die and one coloured die, in the row of that colour.
• You always cross off from left to right: skipped boxes are lost for good.
• An active player who crosses off nothing takes a penalty.
• The last box of a row — the 12 or the 2 — can only be crossed off with at least five crosses already in that row. It then locks the row for everyone.

3.Scoring

• A row with n crosses scores n × (n + 1) / 2 points: one cross 1, two crosses 3, five crosses 15, twelve crosses 78.
• Locking a row adds one extra cross to its count.
• Each penalty costs five points, subtracted from the total.

4.End of the game

• The game ends as soon as a player takes their fourth penalty, or two rows are locked.
• Add up the four rows, then subtract the penalties.

House rules and pitfalls

• Locking a row requires crossing off its last box, which takes at least five crosses already in place.
• A locked row is locked for everyone: the first to get there deprives the others of their remaining boxes.
